Port Colborne, ON (September 6, 2016) – Showboat Festival Theatre is a professional summer theatre that presents four productions each summer out of the Roselawn Centre for the Arts in Port Colborne. As a charitable organization, Showboat relies on ticket sales, donations, grants and sponsorships to continue to offer outstanding entertainment each season.
The Roselawn Centre building and box office service is run by the City of Port Colborne and city policies prohibit the collection of emails for any tenant including Showboat Festival Theatre. Showboat respects and understands the city’s policy and had to find an inventive way to connect with patrons electronically.
This past season, Showboat encouraged patrons to sign up for their e-newsletter by offering them a chance to win a $750 gift certificate to Lakeshore Travel in Port Colborne.
“We came up with a fun “choose your own destination” contest that allowed us to connect with patrons while also respecting the city’s privacy policies,” Showboat’s Artistic Director Derek Ritschel explains. “Our team is already working with Debbie [Wakunick , owner of Lakeshore Travel] to offer our patrons the chance to win something even bigger next season.”
Over 400 patrons subscribed to Showboat’s e-newsletter, almost doubling their email database. On September 1st Joyce Fleeton of St. Catharines was randomly selected as the lucky winner.
